Since grade school, I have
always done really well in math. Not only did I do I do well, I
enjoy it, which a lot of people have trouble saying. But I enjoy math.
Besides math, I enjoy talking to people and working with others. I
find myself learning better and applying myself more when I'm around
other people, rather than secluding myself and working alone. So,
because of these qualities of mine, I intend to major in Business
Management. In Business Management, there is tons of math involved
to where I'll be happy with that and I'll get to work around people all
day, which seems to be better for me.
In order to major in
Business Management, you have to go through the whole undergraduate
program, which NAU has a fantastic one. When starting out, a lot
of the business major classes are the same. They all require math
classes, Intro to Business classes, and a Computer Information class
(which is what this awesome webpage is for!). As you get farther
into your major, the classes start to become more individualized for the
different types of business majors. Yes, they all include more
math classes and general business concept classes, but other than
that, each major requires different classes specific to that field.
In business management, the courses cover information on accounting and
marketing, knowing how to successfully use a computer, and learning how
to be successful in managing a business. All of these types of
courses combined will create the undergraduate studies for Business
Management. NAU does offer a graduate program for this major,
which is something that I may be looking into, but we'll wait and see
for now.
In order to become
successful after college, your grades have to reflect that you know the
material. So, in order to get the type of job I want, I need to
keep studying hard and applying myself in school and get an internship
at a company that will provide me wit the experience I need to succeed.
Business Management falls under the College of Business, but in order to
get into that, you have to complete various things. First off, you
have to take various types of liberal studies, falling under categories
such as Ethnics, Cultural, etc. You can find out more about these
by going to the College of Business Website, which is linked to my
homepage! Another thing you have to do in order to get is attend
six Pathways before your fourth term. A Pathway is a seminar that
talks about different fields on business and different topics relating
to business in general. They are fun and interesting to listen to,
so don't feel that these are a problem. Just go and listen to all
they have to say about the specific topic of the meeting. Who knows, you
might find something really interesting and want to start and pursue
that as a career.
With this major I could go
into many different job fields, such as a Consultant, a Manager of a
store or hotel, a bank president, and so much more. I for one,
have not chosen a direct path yet for after college, but I know that
with this major, there are many jobs I can go into and be successful. |
