NAU Water Polo

NAU water polo is a club on campus. This club participates in 6 tournaments throughout the year. The season lasts from September, to the last tournament , which takes place in April. The team practices at the NAU Wall Aquatic Center, on campus. Practices are held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. 7:00pm- 8:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 12:30pm- 2:30pm on Saturdays.

Water polo is a highly competitive and aggressive sport. It is played in the summer Olympics. The NAU water polo club plays in the southwest conference. This includes teams from Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona. The conference championships are held in Flagstaff every two years in the Wall Aquatic Center. There are usually four tournaments that take place each spring. the schools change each year to give every college participating, a chance to have tournaments at their school.

NAU is luck to have an advantage over most of the other team competing in this conference, because of the altitude they train at. With the higher elevation teams competing here are not used to the thinner air, and when NAU travels they are able to be a little more physically fit because of the altitude. The NAU club is also lucky enough to train in the Wall Aquatic Center, next to Olympic swimming team from all over the globe.

The main purpose of the NAU water polo club is to give players the chance to compete in a fun environment. New and old members are welcome, with little to no experience. The NAU water polo club is a fun way to meet people, exercise, learn a little about the game, and have some friendly competition.
