Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization found on the NAU Flagstaff mountain campus. The purpose of this organization is to raise awareness of affordable family housing and working alongside the local affiliate to make this type of housing possible. This student organization is a great way to get involved with those in need of homes in the community throughout Flagstaff and all of Arizona. It is also a great way to make friends and help different families and people afford housing. Throughout the year, you will be able to help build homes and participate in several fundraisers and events this organization holds. Over the past semesters, several events have been held including Box City where students from all over the NAU campus and community gather in the TWA quad and raise awareness about homelessness in the city. It is an overnight event. Fundraising has been held for the organization and for events that have happened across the nation such as Hurricane Katrina. They have collected money and food donations for the families who have been affected by this natural disaster. Fundraising events for the organization have included bake sales, working concession stands at NAU football games, donations given by the community by going door-to-door, Halloween pumpkin carvings and other ways. This organization is great if you are looking to help the community with housing, gaining leadership skills, and making new friends along the way who share the same passion and goals as you. They have meetings in the University Union every Monday night at 7pm.
